DPD Still Raising Money For “Shop With A Cop”

The Dalton Police Department’s fundraising drive for its annual “Shop With A Cop” event is entering the home stretch with the event just a month away. On December 15th, officers and staff from the police department will join area children in need who have been selected by Dalton Public Schools for a shopping trip at Walmart to purchase Christmas gifts.

A large share of the funds for the “Shop With A Cop” effort have been raised by donations by some of the department’s scruffy-faced officers. During the cooler weather months, the DPD has allowed officers to grow their facial hair in exchange for donations to the “Shop With A Cop” fundraiser along with the department’s other charitable mission, support of Special Olympics Georgia. Other donations have come from Dalton area business owners and also generous individuals in the community.

If you’d like to help the DPD make the holiday season brighter for some deserving kids, you can donate to the effort at the Police Services Center at 301 Jones Street. Checks can be made payable to the Dalton Police Department with the memo line “Shop With A Cop.” Donations can also be made to Dalton officers.
