DPD Seeks ID Of Tire Slashing Suspects

The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying two males suspected of slashing tires of a car parked at the Shugart Road Walmart. The suspects were recorded near the damaged vehicle before being recorded inside the store.

The incident happened at approximately 5:00 am on May 10th. The victim, who works 3rd shift at Walmart, reported that his back driver’s side tire was slashed in the parking lot while he worked. The victim’s car, a green Ford Mustang, was parked far away from other cars in the lot. After a review of surveillance footage, a suspect vehicle, a dark colored pickup truck, was seen parking next to the Mustang around 5:00 am and two males were recorded getting out. One of the males walked around to the driver’s side of the Mustang. He was recorded standing behind the driver’s side for several moments, apparently doing something to the car. Then the two males walked into the store. Both males rode electric scooters around in the store, and also ran around in the store. The store’s loss prevention staff reported that the males then left the store without buying anything.

One of the suspects is a heavyset male who wore a snapback ball cap over his long, dark hair and a gray “UAH” University of Alabama-Huntsville t-shirt with dark shorts and velcro sandals. The second male had a slender build and short dark hair and wore sunglasses with a blue t-shirt and short khaki shorts. Pictures of the two males are included below.

Anyone who knows these individuals is asked to please contact Officer Serena Martin at 706-278-9085, dial 9 and enter extension 240. Officer Martin can also be reached by email at smartin@cityofdalton-ga.gov.
